A recent installation of “Pileo” by American artist Thomas Shannon (1947). This sculpture was commissioned for installation for Parque Quetzalcoatl in Mexico.
Tom Shannon Studio engaged Global Stainless to manufacture this sculpture because of our expertise in stretch forming large domes and the ability to apply a mirror polish to achieve a seamless appearance. The sculpture rotates and tilts freely using wind energy, with a smooth weightless appearance.
Tom Shannon is an American artist and inventor renowned for elegant, technically sophisticated sculptures that explore balance, motion and perception. His work reveals a brilliant fusion of engineering and imagination, with artworks exhibited at leading venues worldwide including major museums and international biennales
