Sunspace for Shibukawa

This Olafur Eliasson designed stainless-steel structure is an observatory designed to chart the path of the sun across the sky. Global Stainless fabricated the structure, which has a large hemispherical dome and is polished to a uniform matte finish.
Studio Olafur Eliasson designed and fitted the 13 lenses that create colourful prisms of light inside the central dome.
Situated on the grounds of the Hara Museum ARC in Shibukara, the design derives from extensive sun-path studies of the location undertaken by Studio Olafur Eliasson.
