Rainbow Incubator

The reflective spherical structure at the center of the ‘Olafur Eliasson’ temporary pavilion is in fact an optical device. Eleven prisms, arranged along the top of the sphere bend and break the daylight as it enters the device, casting a rainbow onto the curved inner surface of the sphere.

Studio Olafur Eliasson were responsible for artistic planning and drawings, as well as for the installation of the lenses on site that created the rainbow effect inside of the sphere. Global Stainless Artworks manufactured and polished the sphere and support stand for the work.
